In one aspect, a method includes forming range bins from range compressed data, the range compressed data comprising a train of coherent pulses formed based on a transmitted signal from a laser detection and ranging (LADAR) sensor and having a large time-bandwidth product and for each range bin, compensating for motion of the LADAR sensor, performing a Fourier transform on the compressed range data, determining a centroid of individual velocity measurements and performing Fourier transform of the centroid to determine a vibration. |

forming range bins from range compressed data, the range compressed data comprising a train of coherent pulses formed from a return signal originating from a transmitted signal reflected from an object, the transmitted signal generated by a laser detection and ranging (LADAR) sensor, the train of coherent pulses having a large time-bandwidth product, the large time-bandwidth product being a product of coherent integration time times a bandwidth, the large time-bandwidth product being greater than 100; for each range bin,
compensating for motion of the LADAR sensor;performing a Fourier transform on the range compressed data;determining a centroid of individual velocity measurements by determining an instantaneous Doppler frequency of a peak intensity of each vertical line that represents an instantaneous velocity at that point in time; andperforming a Fourier transform of the centroid to determine a vibration. |
