<p>The pump is of the type in which prod. is displaced by a piston reciprocating axially in a cylinder. The cylinder is diametrically partitioned into coaxial inlet and delivery chambers with the piston reciprocating in the inlet chambers. Uni-directional non-return valves are fitted in passages which can allow prod. to flow (a) into the inlet chamber, (b) through the piston from inlet valve side to partition side and (c) through the partition from the piston side to the outlet chamber side. The three non-return valves are axially aligned. The piston is pref. fixed to a rod which passes through the partition and extends through the end wall of the delivery chamber. The cylinder is pref. =1 metre long and is at least 70 mm in dia. All valve passages are pref. >=40 mm in dia. Used for pumping food prods. in the form of viscous liqs., pastes etc., partic. in food factories mfg. confectionery prods., chocolate, pastries, biscuits etc. The quality of the prod. is protected by subjecting it to min. stress and insignificant heating as it is pumped. There is no centrifuging and little compression. Inexpensive and hygienic construction.</p> |
