PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seam welding device and a seam welding method capable of easily calculating a contact area between each roller electrode and a workpiece during seam welding on the workpiece or before or after a seam welding process on the workpiece.SOLUTION: A seam welding device 10 can calculate a contact area S on the basis of roller diameters &phgr;U and &phgr;D of upper and lower roller electrodes 14a and 14b and decreases α and &bgr; of a thickness of a workpiece 12 decreasing as the upper and lower roller electrodes 14a and 14b press the workpiece 12 and apply current to the workpiece 12. Therefore, a welding current value Iout can be easily set to an optimum welding current value Iout=Iref×(S/S0) (where Iref represents an initial welding current value and S0 represents an initial contact area). |
