<p>Abstract: A smart socket adapter is provided comprising an extension male piece on one side that can be inserted into a light socket and a female insertion point the other side in which an existing globe or element is inserted. The smart socket adapter has a logic controller built into the adapter which provides three functions via a toggle switch. The adapter socket can be easily inserted into an existing light socket as per the normal installation of a globe, and then the existing globe or element can be inserted into the smart adaptor socket. The primary function of the smart socket adaptor is to turn lights off when a person is not in the room and thus save power consumption.
