The present invention relates to a method and a device for processing a panel base material using a heat treatment at room temperature. According to the present invention, corners of a very thin panel can be uniformly chamfered. More specifically, the method includes the steps of: fixating the panel base material; and linearly or curvedly chamfering corners of the panel base material by making a heating means contact the corners of the panel base material or by placing the heating means close to the corners. The device includes: a body which performs the steps of the method and contacts the corners of the panel base material to be processed; the heating means which is joined with the body, heats the body, and indirectly heats the panel base material by transmitting heat to the panel base material using the body as a medium; and a control part which drives the body and the heating means and controls chamfering conditions including contact distance from the panel base material, contact time, and heating temperature, and the whole chamfering processes. The device of the present invention can be applied for processes of chamfering four sides of a glass substrate used for a flat panel display, eight sides of a flat panel display, and sides of thin glass for a flat panel display used for a mobile phone, a PMP, and an electric device. |
