PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact rotary actuator capable of generating both torque and brake force, and to provide an operation feeling imparting type input device using the same.SOLUTION: A rotary actuator 1 includes a rotatable rotor 10 made of a magnetic material, and a stator 20 made of a magnetic material and arranged to face the radial outer circumferential part 10b of the rotor 10 via a small gap. The rotary actuator 1 also includes a torque generation coil 25 for generating torque from the rotor 10, by being electrified selectively to generate magnetic attraction force from the stator 20 thereby attracting the rotor 10. Furthermore, the rotary actuator 1 is provided with a yoke 30 made of a magnetic material and arranged in the extension direction of the rotating shaft 10a of the rotor 10 so as to be able to come into contact with the rotor 10, and a brake force generation coil 35 electrified selectively to generate magnetic attraction force from the yoke 30 and regulating rotation of the rotor 10 with sliding friction force between the rotor 10. |
