PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently and inexpensively obtain trehalose useful as a medicine, foods and a cosmetic, etc., by culturing a microorganism belonging to genus Streptomyces and having trehalose productivity, and collecting trehalose from the cultured substance. SOLUTION: A microorganism belonging to genus Streptomyces and having trehalose productivity [e.g.; Streptomyces albus Waksman and Henrici 80614 (FERM P-419)] is inoculated in a medium containing glucose, soybean flour, wheat embryo and calcium carbonate, shake-cultured at 33 deg.C for 24hrs to obtain a pre-cultured solution, the solution is inoculated in a medium containing soybean oil, glucose, soybean flour, wheat embryo, calcium carbonate, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, dipotassium phosphate and magnesium sulfate, etc. and shake-cultured at 33 deg.C for 240hrs, then adjusted to pH9.0, shaken at 40 deg.C for one night to extract trehalose in the fungus body, thus the objective trehalose useful for a medicine, foods and a cosmetic, etc., is efficiently and inexpensively obtained. |
