Provided is a 5V class spinel presenting an action potential of 4.5 V or higher (5V class), wherein a novel 5V class spinel is capable of suppressing the amount of gas generated during a high-temperature cycle. Proposed is a manganese spinel-type lithium transition metal oxide shown by Li[NiyMn2-(a+b)-y-zLiaTibMz]O4 (in the formula, 0≤z≤0.3; 0.3≤y<0.6; and M = at least one metal element selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Fe, and Co), wherein the manganese spinel-type lithium transition metal oxide is characterized in that, in the above formula, a>0, b>0, and 2≤b/a≤8. |
