Determination of the orientation of a camera relative to a reference plane

The method involves detecting an optical displacement of a reference level present in a reference structure. The optical displacement takes place by a refractive optical element (265) arranged between a camera (240) and the reference structure. The orientation of the camera is determined with respect to the reference level based on the detected optical displacement using an evaluation unit connected with the camera. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a mounting machine for mounting of printed circuit boards with components (2) a computer-readable storage medium for storing a program for mounting the printed circuit boards (3) a program element for mounting printed circuit boards.
