PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-purity alkyl trimethylsiloxybenzoate compound fluid which is readily taken in a cosmetic formulation containing an organic component by heating and provides a cosmetic formulation with antiseptic properties comparable with those of a precursor solid alkyl hydroxybenzoate and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing an alkyl triorganosiloxybenzoate fluid represented by general formula R' 3SiO-C6H4-COOR [R' is a 1-6C monofunctional hydrocarbon substituent group or a monofunctional aromatic hydrocarbon substituent group; -C6H4is a di-substituted aromatic ring; R is a 1-about 20C monofunctional aliphatic hydrocarbon group] comprises (a) reacting a solid alkyl hydroxybenzoate with a trimethylsilylating agent, (b) removing the residual trimethylsilylating agent and ammonia from the product and (c) recovering the product alkyl triorganosiloxybenzoate fluid represented by the general formula.
