<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network and an edge router that can build up an access group network by a VLAN(Virtual LAN) and build up a core network with an MPLS(Multi-protocol label Switching) network so as to provide a multi- protocol L2 VPN(Virtual Private Network) at a low cost with high scalability. SOLUTION: In the network where the VPN is formed on a common share network and communication is conducted within the VPN, the core network of the VPN is formed by the MPLS network 110, and the access network to the core network is formed with the VLAN 101-104 and edge routers 111-114 that perform an interface function between the MPLS network and the VLAN are provided. The transmitter side edge routers convert a packet received from the VLAN into a packet with the MPLS and transmits the resulting packet to the MPLS network, and the receiver side edge routers convert the MPLS packet received from the MPSL network into the VLAN packet and transmits the VLAN packet toward the VLAN belonging to the same VPN as the transmitter side VLAN.</p> |
