PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor arranged by use of a wind-type capacitor element and increased in capacitance appearance ratio. ! SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a solid electrolytic capacitor comprises the steps of: forming a capacitor element 10 by winding a positive electrode foil and a negative electrode foil with a separator interposed therebetween, and leading out a positive electrode lead wire 6 and a negative electrode lead wire 7 from one end face of the resultant winding; fixing the capacitor element by winding a winding-stop tape 11 around the periphery of the winding at a position near a bottom end face of the capacitor element 10, but below a level higher than the bottom end face by two fifths of "Element L size", i.e. the size of the capacitor element in a height direction thereof; and immersing the capacitor element 10 in a polymerization liquid 12 to impregnate the capacitor element 10 with the polymerization liquid 12.
