<p>A high-pressure gas discharge lamp unit 10 is described including a burner 14 with a discharge vessel 18. The burner 14 comprises electrical contact leads 22,24 and protrudes from and is fixed to a lamp cap housing 12, so that at least a first of the contact leads 22, 24 extends into the housing 12. A lamp operating circuit 50 is arranged within the housing 12, electrically connected to the electrical contact leads 22, 24. In order to allow a particularly compact lamp unit, the housing comprises a bottom plate 44 made out of a metal material to dissipate heat, which comprises an opening 68 into which a cap element 60 made out of an electrically insulating material is inserted to enclose a first electrical contact lead 22.</p> |
