The present invention relates to an apparatus to prevent a passive task-related fatigue of a driver, and a method therefor. More specifically, provided are an apparatus to prevent a passive task-related fatigue of a driver which promotes safe driving by preventing a driver from feeling the passive task-related fatigue as interaction with the driver is carried out at the time when the driver feels the passive task-related fatigue, and to a method therefor. To achieve this, the apparatus to prevent the passive task-related fatigue of a driver in accordance to the present invention comprises: a cruise control monitoring unit monitoring an on/off state of a cruise control switch installed in a vehicle; a server interconnecting unit receiving quiz data corresponding to the location of the vehicle from a server; a display unit displaying the quiz data received by the server interconnecting unit; an input unit receiving input of a response to a quiz from the driver; an output unit outputting sound corresponding to the response of the driver received by the input unit; a seat vibrating unit vibrating a seat when the response of the driver is wrong; and a control unit conducting interaction with the driver based on the quiz data corresponding to the location of the vehicle provided by the server interconnecting unit when the on state of the cruise control switch is maintained as exceeding the threshold time.
