Systems and methods for improving operation of a power take off are presented. In one example, the power take off may be rotated in two different directions. The approaches may improve operation of a power take off device.

while in the vehicle is stationary and parked vehicle, operating a power take off (PTO), including rotating a PTO output via rotating a first PTO power source in a first direction and a second direction; and rotating the PTO output via a positive torque provided by the first PTO power source and a positive torque provided by a second PTO power source.
