<p>A video output device includes a decoder operable to decode main video data and sub video data including data for complementing grayscale of an image which is represented by the main video data, an output device operable to output the main video data and/or sub video data decoded by the decoder, and a controller for controlling the output device. When playing back video data in a normal play mode, the controller controls the output device to output data obtained by combining the decoded main video data and the decoded sub video data. When playing back video data in a trick play mode requiring decoding process performance higher than that in the normal play mode, the controller controls the output device to output only the decoded main video data.</p> |
