The invention relates to a porphyrinic compound intended for photosensitisation diagnosis and to a process for the synthesis thereof. According to the invention, the compound has the following chemical structure: 5-(4-acetoxy-3-methoxy-phenyl)-10,15,20-tris-(4-carboxymethylphenyl)-21,23-H porphyrin. The process for preparing the porphyrinic compound includes the stage of reaction of 4-acetoxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde, 4-acetoxybenzaldehyde and pyrrole on a neutral silica gel support, followed by the extraction of the useful product from the reaction mixture by dissolving it into a dichloro-methane/ethyl ether mixture in a ratio of 50:1 (v/v), filtration at normal pressure and purification of the asymmetrical porphyrinic compound by column chromatography.
