A refrigerator includes: a machine room (12) located at the lower part of the back side of a refrigerator body (1) and enclosed by a bottom plate (6) of the refrigerator body (1), side plates (3, 4), a base plate (16) carrying a compressor (15), a blower (14) and a condenser (13), and a machine room cover (17) covering the back side; ventilation openings (21, 22) formed at the side plates (3, 4) of the refrigerator body (1) at the machine room (12); a reinforce angle iron (28) mounted at the inner side of the side plates (3, 4) of the refrigerator body (1) along the outer periphery edge of the machine room (12); and a reinforce plate (24) mounted at the inner side of the side plates (3, 4) of the refrigerator body (1) in a way that surrounds the outer periphery of the ventilation openings (21, 22), and the periphery of which is fixed to the reinforce angle iron (28). The heat dissipation and the strength reliability of the refrigerator is ensured without doing harm to its appearance or restricting the open area of the ventilation openings (21, 22) as the ventilation openings (21, 22) are set at the side plates (3, 4) of the refrigerator body (1).
