[Class 144 (i).] In a wire-spoked wheel having one or more perforated d e p r e ssions in the rim to accommodate closelyarranged spokes, filling-pieces are fitted in the depressions to receive the spokeends. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the headed ends c<3> of the two sets of spokes c, c<1>, c<2> are closely grouped in a seating-member e fitted in a depression d in the rim a. Fig. 2 shows a modification in which the spoke-ends c<4> are threaded into the filler e. The depressions d may be constituted by a continuous groove or well in the rim-base, in which case the filler e may be formed by a ring of aluminium, magnesium, or other light metal.
