<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive bearing component having improved yield strength and lifetime, and a roller bearing having the bearing component.SOLUTION: A bearing component (11, 12, 13) includes steel which contains carbon of 0.95 mass% or more and 1.1 mass% or less, silicon of less than 0.3 mass%, manganese of less than 0.5 mass%, sulfur of less than 0.008 mass%, and chrome of 1.4 mass% or more and 1.6 mass% or less, and a remaining portion of which is composed of iron and impurity; and has a carbonitriding layer formed in a surface layer portion including a contact face (11A, 12A, 13A) being a face contacting with another part. An average nitrogen concentration in the surface layer portion is 0.3 mass% or more and 0.6 mass% or less, and variation of the nitrogen concentration in the surface layer portion is 0.1 mass% or less. The residual austenite amount in the surface layer portion is 8 vol% or less. The area ratio of deposition in the inside where the carbonitriding layer is not formed is 11% or more.</p> |
