PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical element having different kinds of separators, which can prevent a short circuit between a cathode and an anode due to thermal shrinkage of a porous substrate of the separators and also can prevent explosion or ignition of the electrochemical element due to overcharging.SOLUTION: An electrochemical element includes a continuous single second separator 9a arranged to surround each of adjacent unit cells 7a in a configuration where a plurality of unit cells 7a are laminated, each unit cell including a first separator 3a, a cathode 5a and an anode 1a. The first separator 3a includes: a heat-resisting porous substrate having a melting point of 200°C or above; and a first porous coating layer coated on at least one surface of the heat-resisting porous substrate and formed of a mixture of a plurality of inorganic particles and a binder polymer. The second separator 9a includes: a polyolefin-based porous substrate; and a second porous coating layer coated on at least one surface of the polyolefin-based porous substrate and formed of a mixture of a plurality of inorganic particles and a binder polymer. |
