Title: Moleshield. Description: We have developed a skin coloured patch that is placed over skin moles and freckles. The patch is designed to reflect and scatter the suns harmful UVA and UVB rays, with the active ingredient being a non toxic zinc oxide physical barrier. The patches are highly adhesive, water repellant and water resistant. We are also developing a transparent patch 25mm in diameter that contains zinc oxide nanoparticles.

The Moleshield patch is 25-30mm in diameter (4). The initial development model is skin coloured (5), targeting Medium, white to light brown, which is 11-15 on the Von Luschan's chromatic scale. The patch is made of water resistant and water repellent Polyurethane (PUR and PU), which is a polymer composed of a chain of organic units joined by carbamate (urethane) links. (2). The main active element is physical zinc oxide (3), which will reflect and scatter the suns UVB and UVA rays. The patch will also utilise zinc oxide based adhesives (6). The main body of the patch (1) will not contain perforations and is non-porous, in order to prevent any UVB or UVA intrusion. Figure-1
