<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To limit 3D viewing to a specific viewer without an influence on viewing by 3D video viewers. <P>SOLUTION: The positions of the pupils of the eyes are detected by pupil detection sensors 23 and 24 and an inter-pupil distance L is calculated. If the inter-pupil distance L is smaller than a predetermined threshold, it is determined to limit 3D viewing. When limiting 3D viewing, both liquid crystal shutters 21 and 22 are opened and closed in the same timing corresponding to the display timing of the right-eye video or the left-eye video.
