[Class 110 (i) ] In a two stage pump of the " water-ring a type, the impellers 1, 2 are spaced axially on shaft 3 by a diaphragm 4, which contains suction and discharge ports on each side for air, or other gas, being pumped. The impellers may act in series as in Fig. 1, or in parallel. The lower half 6 of the split casing contains inlet and outlet ports 7, 8. Wear plates 21 are provided on each side of the diaphragm. The diaphragm may be provided with ports for directing sealing liquid to and from the rotors. The sealing liquid system may be independent of one another. The suction and discharge ports in the diaphragm walls may be made larger than necessary to facilitate positioning with the corresponding ports in the plates 21. |
