A method and an apparatus for obtaining a full reflection spectrum are disclosed. The method for obtaining a full reflection spectrum first obtains an F-matrix from an image generated by picturing an object with a known full reflection spectrum by using the known full reflection spectrum, wherein the F matrix is formed by digitizing response characteristics of the camera, spectrum characteristics of an optical source, and a basis function for the full reflection spectrum. Then, a full reflection spectrum for a target object can be obtained using the F matrix which is pre-obtained from the image generated by picturing the target object, wherein the target object is illuminated by light according to a determined lighting environment.
