PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a print mechanism for ink printing apparatus which includes print bars each having plural print heads and bar protective caps provided for sealing the print bars, the print bars and the bar protective caps being positions such that print bars that have a printing pause can be sealed with bar protective caps while printing can take place with the remaining print bars.SOLUTION: A bar protective cap 6 which can pivot and which is open to one side is provided for each print bar 4. The bar protective cap 6 is arranged in a vertical position next to the print bar 4 at a printing position such that the open side is facing away from the print bar 4. The bar protective cap 6 is arranged in a horizontal position with the open side upward in a park position such that the print bar 4 is engaged with its print head side in the bar protective cap 6.
