发明名称 Improvements in or relating to lever-operated controls for transmission-gear, couplings, and the like
摘要 390,657. Locking control - levers. LAWES, G. W., Collingwood, Grosvenor Avenue, Carshalton, Surrey. May 4, 1932, Nos. 12895 and 13808. [Class 79 (iii).] In control - levers for change-speed gears &c. having locking means to prevent unauthorized use, positive irreversible means are provided for maintaining the lever inoperative if the lock is tampered with. A sliding sleeve 40 is connected by a Bowden cable 11 with a plunger 13 having a pin 26 in contact with cam face 25 on a ring 23 operable by a knob 22. When the knob is turned the plunger is raised and with it the sleeve 40. The lower end 57 of the sleeve is thus withdrawn from engagement with the gear 58. When the plunger rises lateral spring-pressed plungers 19, 20, 21 are pushed into recesses in a fixed sleeve 14 to lock the main plunger in raised position. Release is affected by rotating, according to the combination, rings 28, 29, 30, the eccentric inner surface of which bear upon balls which force the plungers 19, 20, 21 back into the main plunger. To prevent the sleeve 40 rising except when the lever is in neutral position it is formed with projecting arms 53 which pass into slots 50 in vertical plates 48 mounted on a partition 47. The slots have vertical portions 51 corresponding to the neutral position so that vertical movement of the arms 53 into them is permissible. Tampering with the mechanism would result in the normal travel being exceeded, in which case a plunger 54 carried by a spring 55 will drop into a hole 56 or 56a. If into the hole 56, connection with the selector device 58 will be prevented ; if into the hole 56a, a wider portion will descend into an aperture which normally houses the part 57 and will prevent the lower end of the lever from moving into gear-engaging position. In a modification, Fig. 7, normal locking of the lever is effected by causing a sliding block 60 to move between stops 61, 62, or 63, 64. If the movement is excessive, due to tampering, a spring-pressed plunger 65 moves into a recess 66 or 67 and cannot be withdrawn except by dismantling the mechanism.
