[Class 120 (ii).] In a spinning &c. machine for producing slub yarns the front roller driving wheel B and the small front roller wheel C geared to the crown wheel D are loose on the front roller shaft A and are placed in driving connection therewith at intervals by a clutch member F which is slidably keyed on the shaft A and actuated from one or more projections on the face of the crown wheel D. As shown the clutch member F is carried from a bracket g<1> pivoted on a stud g<3> and forced by a spring g' towards the projections d<2> on the face of the crown wheel D, the spring putting the clutch into engagement and causing the front rollers to rotate when a projection d<2> passes a member G slidably mounted in a slot g in the bracket g<1> and projecting into a spiral groove d in the face of the crown wheel. The projections d<2> are adjustably mounted in the groove d so that the distance between the slubs can be varied, and may be of varying lengths so that the lengths of the slabs may be regulated; the groove may circle the face of the crown wheel two or more times and a cross channel d<1> guides the member G from the end of the groove to the beginning thereof. In a modification the crown wheel has a plain face and projections thereon engage a roller on a pivoted arm carrying the clutch member. |
