<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which can switch between a non-pressure state and a pressure-contact state without adding any mechanism or complicating the configuration, does not cause noise during switching, and can arbitrarily switch to appropriate nip width and nip pressure according to mode difference such as a paper type or a paper thickness.SOLUTION: In a lower unit 52 of a fixing device, a pressing roller unit 76 holding a pressing roller 62 is provided so as to be vertically rotatable around an axis center 75, and rotation of the pressing roller is driven by a cam 77. According to difference in height of a cam surface from a rotation center of the cam 77 and according to rotation of the cam 77 in the clockwise direction, the pressing roller 62 is put into a plurality of press-contact positions relative to a fixing roller 54 via a fixing belt 58. The non-pressure state is brought about by the rotation of the cam 77 in an opposite direction (the counterclockwise direction).</p> |
