<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the deployment space of a side airbag by quickly moving the chest and head of an occupant together to the inner side in the vehicle width direction when a vehicle receives a side collision while the occupant is in a posture different from a normal posture. <P>SOLUTION: An occupant protection apparatus for a vehicle includes: a side airbag 12 that is configured to inflate and deploy between an occupant 16 and the vehicle-body side part 18 in a side collision and corresponds to at least the chest 16C of the occupant 16; and a pressing airbag 14 that is provided in a side door 28 or a pillar, configured to inflate and deploy earlier than the side airbag 12 by receiving supply of inflation gas in the side collision, and has a lower chamber 14A, deploying between the chest 16C of the occupant 16 and the vehicle-body side part 28, and an upper chamber 14B deploying between the head 16H of the occupant 16 and the vehicle-body side part 28 later than the lower chamber 14A. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
