Spray-drying apparatus comprises: liquid feedstock supply 1, spray nozzle 4 for forming an aerosol of the liquid feedstock inside drying chamber 5; cyclone 8 connected to drying chamber 5; collection vessel 9 connected to cyclone 8; and an exit for exhaust gas. Drying chamber 5 and cyclone 8 are made from a plastic material selected from polytetrafluoraethylene, polyether ether ketone, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, fluorinated ethylene propylene, polycarbonate, polypropylene or polysulfone. The plastic material allows the apparatus to be easily cleaned to reduce cross contamination. The apparatus is particularly suitable for producing pharmaceutical products. |
