This organic electroluminescent element is provided with: a substrate; a light emitting body which is arranged on the substrate; a counter substrate; a sealing layer which surrounds the light emitting body and bonds the substrate and the counter substrate with each other; an electrode connection layer which is formed on the substrate so as to extend to the inside and the outside of the sealed region surrounded by the sealing layer and is electrically connected to the light emitting body; and a conduction assistant part which is arranged on the electrode connection layer and has an internal conduction layer that is arranged within the sealed region and an external conduction layer that is arranged outside the sealed region. The external conduction layer and/or the internal conduction layer has a stretched part. The stretched part is positioned between the sealing layer and the electrode connection layer, and does not penetrate through the sealing layer.
