[Class 20 (iii)] Window regulators of the kind in which a vertically sliding sash is raised &c. by rack-and-pinion mechanism are provided with a slipping clutch 10, Fig. 4, to prevent damage through over-winding. The pinion spindle.is carried in the top channel frame 4 of the sliding panel and actuated by worm gearing 8, and the racks are fixed to an extension 20 of the frame, Fig. 3, in the construction shown. The slipping clutch comprises bevelled-tooth spring-pressed members housed in the hub of the handle. The window guide preferably consists of a rib 17 on the frame engaging a sash of H-section lined with leather or the like. Specifications 411,941, 437,377, and 439,837 are referred to, and Specification 326,512, [Class 20 (iii)], is referred to in the first Provisional Specification.
