PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid jetting apparatus and a cleaning method for a fluid jetting apparatus in which useless ink consumption at the time of cleaning can be prevented. SOLUTION: The fluid jetting apparatus PRT includes a fluid jetting head 11 which has a plurality of nozzles 13 to jet a fluid to a medium M, a detecting part which detects a jetting situation of the fluid at each of the plurality of nozzles 13, a negative pressure generating part which generates a negative pressure near a predetermined nozzle 13, and a control unit CONT which controls driving of the fluid jetting head 11 and the negative pressure generating part. The control unit CONT makes a negative pressure generated near a defective nozzle whereat the jetting failure of the fluid is detected by the detecting part, and also drives a driving element corresponding to the defective nozzle to discharge the fluid from the defective nozzle.
