<p>An apparatus for a pool 14 comprises a substantially closed chamber 12 containing filter material 40; an air-lift pump 30; and a fluid inlet 36 arranged in use to be in fluid communication with the chamber and the pool. The air lift pump promotes passage of fluid from the chamber, and the inlet draws fluid from the pool to replace fluid passed from the chamber. Preferably, the chamber is arranged in use to be immersed in water. A filter housing 22 may be arranged in use above a base 18 of the chamber, wherein the filter housing comprises an outlet 26 positioned at the base 27 of the housing. The outlet can provide a water flow pathway from the filter housing into the chamber. A first air-lift pump can have an intake adjacent to the base of the chamber and an outlet riser 34 open to the pool. The inlet may provide a water flow from the pool to the filter housing, wherein the inlet can be located above its outlet into the filter housing. A method of cleaning a pool of water is also claimed.</p> |
