1. A process for isolating an active ingredient from a pharmaceutical delivery system, comprising:
dissolving the pharmaceutical delivery system in a solvent to form a fluid stream that contains the active ingredient dissolved in the solvent and suspended particles derived from the pharmaceutical delivery system; flowing the fluid stream through an apparatus that comprises:
a flow chamber having at least one inlet and at least one outlet;at least one ultrasonic transducer located on a wall of the flow chamber, the transducer including a piezoelectric material; anda reflector located on the wall on the opposite side of the flow chamber from the at least one ultrasonic transducer; and generating a multi-dimensional standing wave in the flow chamber to capture the suspended particles in the fluid stream; and recovering the solvent and the active ingredient dissolved in the solvent. |
