<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document conveying device that changes document conveying directions reliably with simpler configuration, and an image reading device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: At least part of a plurality of gears 51-59 and 61-65 for transmitting a driving force of a motor 41 to a conveying roller 15 is retained by a movable member 70. The rotational direction of the conveying roller 15 is reversed by changing the combination of the plurality of gears 51-59 and 61-65 when the movable member 70 is moved by the driving force of the motor 41. Thereby, the document conveying directions can be switched with simpler configuration than in the case where a solenoid or the like is used. When the document conveying directions are switched, the combination of the plurality of gears 51-59 and 61-65 is completely switched so that the rotational direction of the conveying roller 15 is reversed with high accuracy and the document conveying direction can be switched reliably. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
