[Class 65 (ii)] A pivot for windows comprises two members 4, 5, each with a semicircular recess, secured to the frame to form a socket, a rotatable member 6 fitting in the socket and a spigot 9 secured to the sash and non-rotatably engaging the member 6, means being provided to produce friction in the pivot to hold the window in any position. In the form shown the friction-producing means comprises a semicylindrical metal or other liner 14 in the recess of the member 5, pressed against the member 6 by a screw. The members 4, 5 are separately screwed to the frame, but dowel pins may be provided to facilitate their registration with one another. |
