A method and device for switching video pictures are disclosed in the invention, which belong to video conference field. Said method includes obtaining the corresponding relationship between participants and venues; when a participant is called according to said corresponding relationship, searching the venue corresponding to said called participant; and switching the video pictures to the venue corresponding to said called participant. Said device includes a relationship obtaining module, a venue searching module and a video switching module. Alternatively, said device includes a relationship obtaining module, a venue searching module and a switch application module. Without requiring manual intervention of the participant and waiting for response from the participant, the invention can find the venue corresponding to the called participant according to the corresponding relationship, and automatically switch the video to the venue or apply to an MCU for switching the video to the venue, thus the continuity of the video conference is ensured, the video pictures can be switched in time, and "face to face" communion experience of the participants in the video conference is improved. |
