<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that can adequately prevent run-away of heater control for heating a fixing roller.SOLUTION: In a fixing device 5, a fixing roller 11 and a pressure roller 12 are brought into pressure contact with each other to form a nip area between the fixing roller 11 and the pressure roller 12. Since a thermostat 17 is arranged at a position on the opposite side to the pressure roller 12 with respect to the fixing roller 11, when the temperature of the fixing roller 11 continues to increase beyond a specified temperature, a bearing of the fixing roller 11 is softened or melted, and the fixing roller 11 is displaced toward the opposite side to the pressure roller 12 to be brought into contact with the thermostat 17. As a result of this contact, the surface temperature of the fixing roller 11 is directly sensed by the thermostat 17; the sensing temperature of the thermostat 17 is certainly increased to an upper limit temperature; the thermostat 17 turned on to off; and energization of a heater lamp 16 is certainly stopped.</p> |
