AN ENGINE BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD

The inventive engine control system (1) and method (100) relates to decreasing the braking effect in high levels generated in heavy commercial vehicles' diesel engines (2) with engine brake equipped with decompression valve by means of controlling the air amount entering to the engine (2) or enabling the driver to control it. By means of the invention, more comfortable driving is provided by being able to limit the engine (2) braking effect and fuel saving is provided by decreasing the unnecessary braking effect. Furthermore the life of the system is elongated by decreasing the loads on the valve system by reducing the pressure inside the cylinder.
