A composition for treating Parkinson's disease in a subject experiencing same, comprising an effective amount of a therapeutic composition comprising a diarylmethylpiperazine compound of formula (i) or formula (ii)and pharmaceutically acceptable salts of the 4-((alpha-R)-alpha-((2S,5R)-2,5-Dimethyl-4-(3-fluorobenzyl)-1-piperazinyl)-3-hydroxybenzyl)-N,N-diethylbenzamide or 4-((alpha-R)-alpha-((2S,5R)-2,5-Dimethyl-4-(2-fluorobenzyl)-1-piperazinyl)-3-hydroxybenzyl)-N,N-diethylbenzamide compound in an effective amount to reduce the symptoms of Parkinson's disease; wherein the diarylmethylpiperazine compound of formula (i) or formula (ii) exhibits delta opioid receptor agonist and mu opioid receptor antagonist activity. |
