<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption by reducing unnecessary access to memory for a branch prediction. <P>SOLUTION: A branch prediction device includes: a prediction part which has a history storage part for storing a result of a branch instruction, refers to the history storage part, and performs a branch prediction; an interval storage part which stores an interval of branch instructions in response to the branch instruction; a control part which determines timing for referring to the history storage part based on the interval of the branch instruction stored in the interval storage part; a counter for measuring the interval of the branch instruction; an update part which updates contents of the interval storage part based on the interval of the branch instruction measured by the counter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
