PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compounds that have beneficial activities of dextromethorphan used as a general antitussive and also have other benefits, e.g., reduced side effects, with decreased metabolic liability.SOLUTION: A novel morphinan compound is specified in the figure, where R1 is CH3, CH2D, CHD2, CD3, CHF2 and CF3, and R2 is CH3, CH2D, CHD2 and CD3, provided that R2 is not CH3 or CD3 if R1 is CH3 and that R2 is not CH3 if R1 is CD3. |
