PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet printer capable of preventing a decrease in picture quality due to local density variation occurring to an image part corresponding to an overlap range owing to a position shift between two head units, or a decrease in picture quality due to a density difference between image parts corresponding to the overlap range and a non-overlap range respectively.SOLUTION: A first head unit 10 and a second head unit 20 of an ink jet head are arranged such that their nozzle arrays 12, 22 partially overlap each other. When a dot array is formed on a recording form, a controller uses the first nozzle 11 and second nozzle 21 within the overlap range in which the nozzle arrays 12, 22 overlap each other differently according to conditions (1)-(3). (1) There are three or more switching positions for the first nozzle 11 and second nozzle 21 within a switching range in which the first nozzle 11 and second nozzle 21 are switched. (2) The switching range is narrower than the overlap range. (3) Switching ranges are different between two adjacent dot arrays. |
