The present invention relates to an energy management system and method for minimizing electricity rates for customers, and more specifically, to an energy management system and method capable of minimizing electricity rates for customers by control of charge and discharge of an energy storage system for electricity consumption management based on differentiated electricity pricing. According to an embodiment of the present invention, since it is possible to optimally adjust a customer-connected point power demand pattern in correspondence to a customer power consumption pattern based on the differentiated electricity pricing, a customer can minimize electricity rats while keeping a power consumption pattern and reliability and efficiency of operation of the entire system can be enhanced.
