The present invention is installed in an overhead crane comprising: a fixed frame fixed on the ceiling of a work space; rails formed on top of the fixed frame; a girder moving on the rails; girder rails formed on the top of the girder; and a trolley moving on the girder rails. A braking device for an overhead crane comprises: braking blocks installed in both sides of the fixed frame while crossing at right angles to the rails; braking bars penetrating the braking blocks in a direction where the rails are formed, and installed to be slid along the braking blocks; braking guides fixed on one end positioned close to the girder among both ends of the braking bars; and elastic members surrounding the outer surface of the braking bars having both ends hung on the braking blocks, and the braking guides to push the braking guide towards the girder; and braking wheels installed in both ends of the lateral surfaces in parallel with the rails among the lateral surfaces of the girder to be rotated, and coming in contact with the braking guides. The present invention can prevent damage to a stopper in the stoppage of the girder and minimize the stoppage impact by stopping the girder of the overhead crane that is not using the stopper and a buffer, but using the fixed frame and the braking device installed in the girder; thereby preventing the workpieces from being dropped. |
