<p>A driving support system is provided with a display unit (10) that is disposed inside a front window (110) of a vehicle and has a display screen and a display control unit (20) for controlling the display of images on the display screen. The display control unit is provided with a character display unit, right/left turn prediction unit, notification changing unit, and right/left turn changing unit. The character display unit causes a character indicating the traveling direction of the vehicle to be displayed on the display screen. The right/left turn prediction unit predicts the distance from the current position of the vehicle to a right/left turn point at which a right or left turn will be made. The notification changing unit causes the display mode of the character to change to an advance notification display mode after the distance from the current position of the vehicle to the right/left turn point falls below a second approach distance that is longer than a predetermined first approach distance and until the distance from the current position of the vehicle to the right/left turn point reaches the first approach distance. After the distance from the current position of the vehicle to the right/left turn point falls below the first approach distance, the right/left turn changing unit causes the display mode of the character to change to a right/left turn display mode in which the right or left turn direction is indicated.</p> |
