The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for guaranteeing the stability of a vehicle electronic control unit (ECU), configured to comprise: a control unit for measuring the cumulative usage time of a central processing unit and for outputting a warning signal if the cumulative usage time exceeds a preset guaranteed period; a storage unit for storing the cumulative usage time of the central processing unit; and a warning means for outputting a warning in response to the warning signal from the control unit. According to the present invention, if the cumulative usage time of the central processing unit exceeds the guaranteed period of a flash memory, the present invention can guarantee the stable operation of the electronic control unit and the stability of the vehicle by displaying the warning.
