516,770. Safes. POWER, R. F. July 6, 1938, No. 19983. [Class 44] In a door particularly for a safe the free edge of the door A as seen in plan is curved, as shown in. dotted lines at D, in the form of a circular arc having its centre at the axis of the hinge B, or, as shown in full lines at D<1>, an arc of shorter radius with its centre off-set from the hinge towards the edge of the door, as at B<1>, the horizontal width of the inner face of the door being not less than that of the outer face. The hinged edge E<2> of the door may have a similar curved form as shown dotted, or straight and set at an angle as in the full lines. The edges of the doors may be stepped and the above curvature applied to the appropriate faces of the steps. Alternatively, an approximation to the curved form may be used, comprising facets D<2>, Fig. 4, each of which is inclined at an angle greater than a right-angle to the line joining the rear edge of the facet to the hinge centre. The application of the invention to a circular door is also described. In all cases the door frame C has surfaces corresponding in form with the door edges. |
